Frequently Asked Questions
Curious about Wynberg Rotaract, or thinking of getting involved? Here are the things people most often ask us.
Wynberg Rotaract is a community of 18–30s in Cape Town’s southern suburbs who put their time and skills into local service. If your question isn’t answered below, get in touch — we’d love to hear from you.
What is Wynberg Rotaract?
We’re part of Rotaract, the 18–30 wing of Rotary International — more than 200,000 members in over 8,300 clubs across more than 180 countries. Same ethos as the older Rotary clubs: service, fellowship and integrity, with the energy and voice of a younger generation.
Locally, we’re the 18–30 sister club of the Rotary Club of Wynberg, chartered in 1986, and a member club of District 9350, which covers the Western and Northern Cape, Namibia and Angola.
When and where do you meet?
The 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, at 18:30, at Allan Jeffes Hall (Under Bridge), 28 Wetton Road, Wynberg, Cape Town.
Drop in as a guest — no booking, no commitment. If you’d rather say hello first, message us on Instagram at @wynbergrotaract.
Who can join?
Anyone aged 18 to 30 who wants to make a difference where they live. Most of us are based in Cape Town’s southern suburbs.
How do I join?
Two easy ways in:
- Come to a meeting. Join us on a 1st or 3rd Tuesday at Allan Jeffes Hall — guests are always welcome.
- Send us a note. Fill in the join form and tell us what interests you — membership, volunteering or just finding out more.
Can I help without becoming a member?
Yes — and we’d be glad of the help.
- Volunteer at Uncle Paul’s. Every Christmas, dozens of volunteers make the night happen: check-in and marshalling, setup and pack-down, the castle team, donation sorting and photography. See how to put your hand up.
- Come to the party. Uncle Paul’s Christmas Party is our main fundraiser — here’s how to book.
- Donate. See our Donate page.
What is Uncle Paul’s Christmas Party?
An annual tradition hosted by Wynberg Rotaract at the castle on Groot Constantia Wine Farm — a magical evening for families with children aged 3 to 8, with tractor rides up to the castle and Father Christmas waiting at the top.
It’s our primary fundraiser: what it raises funds the community projects we run through the following year. The party is in early December; tickets open on Quicket in October. Everything about Uncle Paul’s →
Where do donations go?
Donations made through our Donate page are paid into the account of our sponsoring club, the Rotary Club of Wynberg. Ticket sales and donations at Uncle Paul’s fund Wynberg Rotaract’s community projects for the following year.
